Men in Nursing Care

Nursing is a profession dominated by female, only 5% in nursing profession are males. Nursing scope is increasing rapidly as it forms the backbone of healthcare system.   There are 2.7 million registered nurses and over 750,000 licensed practical nurses working in the system.

 

According to research Male registered nurses (RNs)  mostly considers field of administration, emergency or critical care then general medical, outpatient, or obstetrical nursing

 

Among 3.5 million employed nurses about 3.2 comprises of female and 330,000 males. Among which 78% are registered nurse , Men representation  in nursing has significantly increased from 2.7 % in 1970 to 9.6% in 2011. Licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses of  around 19% , 3 percent were nurse practitioners, and 1 percent were nurse anesthetists
