Fredricka Gilje holds a PhD, Master’s degree, and Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She has 40 years of experience as a nurse educator in baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs in North Dakota, Montana, Washington and Alaska. In addition she engages in international collaboration in nursing research in Norway and Sweden. She has authored and co-authored various publications in nursing journals and books, including articles concerning caring for suicidal persons. She is a board member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention-Montana Chapter and serves on a local suicide prevention coalition in a state located in northwestern U.S.A.

Kathryn Weaver is Nurse Psychotherapist and Associate Professor in the University of New Brunswick where she teaches mental health, community development, and advanced nursing practice; and healthcare ethics Instructor for Graduate and Medical students, Atlantic Region Training Centre, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She completed her PhD from the University of Alberta and postdoctoral fellowships through the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology and Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. She has published more than 30 papers and is principle investigator of two documentaries, Through True Eyes: Recovery from Eating Disorders and It’s Not about Food!, produced by Atlantic Media works, Fredericton.

Shari Dingle Costantini has 20 years of experience leading international healthcare staffing organizations. She is the CEO of Avant, a company she founded in 2003. She has a BSN from the University of Florida and a MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago.

Health Care

Louis P. Perrault received his medical degree from University of Montreal in 1986. He completed 3 years of training in basic science research in Paris under the supervision of Professor Paul VanHoutte at Université Louis-Pasteur and obtained a doctor degree (PhD) in fundamental research in 1997. He is the current president for the CSCS.Dr. Perrault is a local Principal Investigator for the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network (CTSNet) for the NIH/CIHR since 2007. He is also an investigator of the FRSQ (Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec). Dr. Perrault has authored and co-authored more than 250 articles in peer-reviewed publications including New England Journal of Medicine, J Chir Thorac Cardio-Vasc, Circulation and J Heart Lung Transplant. His areas of clinical expertise include: Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery (CABG), valve surgery and heart transplantation ,endothelial dysfunction in left ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension following CPB, stem cells therapy and heart transplantation.

Jawahar Jay Kalra, an educator, researcher, and quality health care advocate, is a Professor of Pathology in the University of Saskatchewan and has served as Head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is recognized for his many contributions as a clinical scientist, academic leader, and health system administrator. He has been a pioneer in establishing guidelines for thyroid-function testing, quality assurance program and contributed nationally and internationally in the area of total quality management. He has published extensively and is the author of the book “Medical Errors and Patient Safety: Strategies to reduce and disclose medical errors and improve patient safety.

Quality management

Bernadette Dorsch Curry is Dean Emerita and Professor at Molloy College. She holds a Baccalaureate degree from Niagara University, a Master’s degree in Nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a PhD in Educational Administration, Organization and Policy from the University at Buffalo, and a Certificate in Leadership from Harvard University. In addition, she has been inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing. She has held academic and clinical roles, including faculty, chair, enrollment coordinator, and advancement officer at varied institutions. As Dean of the school of Nursing at Molloy College, she initiated the PhD program. Dr. Curry has delivered numerous presentations at community, regional, national and international venues, including France, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, and Austria. She was presented a medal by the French Navy in recognition for achievement in nursing education. She has been an active participant and officer in a variety of professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau International, American Nurses Association (ANA), International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN), American Assembly for Men in Nursing (AAMN), American Association for French Speaking Health Professionals, Greater New York, Nassau, Suffolk Organization of Nurse Executives. She sits on a number of boards, serves as a Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Team Leader for evaluation of nursing programs, mentors doctoral students, and participated in the first Taking Care at the Bedside (TCAB) national initiative. She has published a variety of articles, including those requested for repository in the Jean Piaget Archives in Geneva, Switzerland and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Currently, she is writing a book on Doctoral Education, and recently completed a study on the Motivation of Men in Nursing to Pursue the PhD degree.

She has been an ardent advocate for men in nursing which is one area of interest. Other interests include leadership, professionalism, image of nursing, higher education, and marketing

Dr Thomas Harding is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has previously held Associate Professorships at the Eastern Institute of Technology, New Zealand, Australian Catholic University, Sydney, Australia and in the Department of Health, University College of Buskerud and Vestfold, Norway. A nurse since 1982 he has worked extensively in clinical practice and education in New Zealand, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain and Norway. He completed his PhD in 2005 where he used discourse analysis to explore the experience of men who are nurses. Subsequently, he has published numerous articles, written several book chapters, and presented widely at conferences nationally and internationally. His current research interests focus on nursing education, workforce development, and gender and cultural issues in nursing.
