Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing

Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing is centered on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals experiencing mental health disorders and emotional distress. This session will cover major psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and substance use disorders. Participants will explore therapeutic communication techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and psychosocial rehabilitation approaches. The session will emphasize trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, stigma reduction, and community-based mental health services. Discussions will include psychopharmacology, behavioral therapies, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and integrated mental healthcare models. Special focus will be given to mental health promotion, early detection of psychological disorders, and the role of nurses in providing continuous emotional support. Innovations such as telepsychiatry, digital mental health tools, and AI-based behavioral analysis will also be addressed. The session aims to strengthen psychiatric nursing competencies and improve mental wellness outcomes across populations.
