Throughout the 21^st century, the role of nurse has evolved significantly. Nurses work in a variety of settings, including the hospital, the classroom, the community health department, the business sector, home health care, and the laboratory. Although each role carries different responsibilities, the primary goal of a professional nurse remains the same: to be the client's advocate and provide optimal care based on evidence obtained through research.

MARKET GROWTH AND ANALYSIS IN HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY 

Connected Healthcare new technology that is changing the healthcare service and making easier to get health service for people. Connected Healthcare market is projected to be worth £37 billion globally and £1.9 billion in the UK by 2020, according to new PwC analysis. There were 3.5 million employed nurses in 2011, about 3.2 million of whom were female and 330,000 males.  Of employed nurses, 78 percent were registered nurses, 19 percent were licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses, 3 percent were nurse practitioners, and 1 percent were nurse anesthetists. Men’s representation among registered nurses and licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses increased. About 2.7 percent of registered nurses were men in 1970 compared with 9.6 percent in 2011. Men’s representation among licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses grew from 3.9 percent in 1970 to 8.1 percent in 2011.

TRACK 6: Men Nursing Education System and Nursing Colleges

Nurses perform numerous tasks, from providing fundamental healthcare to assisting surgeons with advanced and critical procedures. Those interested in becoming a nurse, can pursue several educational options based on their career goals and level of care they hope to provide. There are three main categories of nurses. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide basic care while supervised by registered nurses and doctors. Registered nurses (RNs) care for patients, provide support to patient’s families, and assist doctors in medical procedures. Additional education can lead to further specialization as an advanced practice registered nurse. Educational programs in nursing are typically found in both public and private colleges, technical schools, and universities. Some hospitals and high schools offer them as well. In addition to liberal arts courses, nursing programs require students to take courses related to the field such as biology, physiology, chemistry, and anatomy. All nursing programs contain a supervised clinical component, and graduates of these programs must pass a licensing exam to begin work. There are no bar for men from undergoing these programs.

Nursing practice is progressive practice enrolled nurses who are skilled and instructed to indulge health elevation and maintenance through the analysis and treatment of intense illness and habitual condition. TRACK 8: Fields of Nursing Preferred by Men

It is observed that Male registered nurses (RNs) considers certain fields of nursing (e.g., administration, emergency, or intensive care) to be more congruent with the male sex role than other fields (e.g., general medical, outpatient, or obstetrical nursing). They generally preferred work in more congruent fields. Over time, they were increasingly employed in more congruent fields and they did not experience significantly less role strain in the more congruent fields of nursing than in the less congruent fields.

TRACK 11: Elimination of Barriers: Opportunities and Challenges

When the Institute of Medicine’s original report on the future of nursing was released it outlined a future full of opportunity and with the challenge for all nurses to practice to the full extent of their education and scope. Nursing is a profession both defined by science, as well as art. The terms art and science are significant for the practice of nursing. TRACK 13: Disadvantages of Male Nurses

The number of male nurses in the nursing professional is very less relatively. There is a huge shortage of male nurses in the sector and the level of public awareness in this regard is less. People still holds the idea that males in the nursing sector are effeminate. This is a common notion that prevails in the minds of many people and this is one factor that deters aspiring male students from becoming certified nurses in the industry. The nursing professional has been traditionally associated with the female gender. Patients still can relate and connect to female patients more than males. These disadvantages of Men in Nursing hold fast.

TRACK 14: Statistical Analysis

According to the latest statistics, male nurses represent just a small fraction of the nursing workforce. The number of male nurses in the nursing professional is roughly around 5 %. The popular notion that nursing is not for men and admission capacity constraints of Nursing Schools seem to be major obstacles towards bringing more men to the profession. Although male nurses often face the challenges of gender discrimination, especially in specialties like obstetrics and gynecology, where, women often prefer female nurses, male nurses often end up in leadership roles and in specialties like intensive care, emergency and operating room nursing. Attitudes, gender role perceptions, intimate care issues, nurse shortage, retention and motivation influence the professional presence of men in nursing.

TRACK 15: Efforts to increase male representations

Men still constitute a small minority of the nursing population. Although the reason has been identified, barriers that deter men from entering the profession, nursing schools and other stakeholders have been conservative in their efforts to recruit men. Active recruitment of young men may be a means of addressing nursing shortages. If nursing is to survive, affirmative action is needed to close the gender gap. More schools for men and more campaigns are needed to be organized.
